Dear PS/IS 268 Families:

New York City has so many opportunities to enjoy the arts!   Here is a list of some museums which offer free or reduced admission.   Most museums also offer free family programs on the weekends - check their websites for further info. 

Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Frick Collection

FREE for children 18 and under, Pay what you wish (adults) Thursdays 6:00pm- 9:00 pm




Here is a guide of questions you can use when looking at an artwork with your child:

  1. What do you notice in this artwork?
  2. What do you think is happening in this artwork? What do you see that makes you think that?
  3. Why do you think the artist made this artwork?
  4. What message or ideas do you think the artist is trying to suggest? What do you see that makes you think that?
  5. Do you like this artwork? Why or why not?
  6. What would you like to ask the artist about this work if you could?
